Hot in the City

There’s an undeniable joy in packing away bulky winter clothing and unveiling a vibrant selection of summer outfits. It’s a season of renewal, where the world seems to bloom with colour and life, inviting us to bask in the glorious sunshine and embrace the carefree spirit of the warmer months ahead.

I’ve made it official: my coats, boots, and sweaters are packed away in garment bags and vacuum-sealed until October. I’m done with heavy layers! This early start to summer is invigorating and sets a powerful tone for what’s to come.

Gorgeous stripes in pastel pink, bright oranges, and vivid reds have replaced the winter blues and blacks. The looser, more comfortable layers essential during the cold months are no longer needed. As I take a deep breath, I’m relieved that everything still fits after hibernation.

Wearing the knitted dress above in Covent Garden during May usually wouldn’t be a problem. However, that afternoon, it was 25 degrees Celsius and humid, and the stuffy underground ride had left me feeling drained. I had to lean against the wall for support. Glowing in gold, I thought to myself: Who says metallic isn’t trending this season?

The sweltering heat is a wonderful reminder that it's time to embrace sandals, which I had stored away. A fresh coat of Rouge Noir nail polish on my toes is also a must. I know I’m showing more skin, which can be daunting, but with some elegant jewelry, I can just about pull it off. Beautiful pieces will draw attention away from my arms and chin—even the varicose veins look better with a tan.

Long maxi dresses from last season, paired with bags and sunglasses from Elie Beaumont, create a strong and refreshing look. I usually carry my Birkin bags around town, so it feels liberating to have bags draped on me, allowing my hands to be free for essential items like ice cream and beer. What else could you need?

Celebrating VE Day at Buckingham Palace has been an extraordinary experience. May is always a busy month, but I fully embrace the splendour and spirit of this occasion. Each year, I proudly showcase my Pompom shoes in a variety of vibrant colours. Why? Because they are versatile enough to be paired with anything! Whether it’s dresses, shorts, beachwear, or cropped jeans, they are undoubtedly the most cost-effective footwear at around £7 a pair. They are adorable and a must-have in any wardrobe!

A fantastic basket I found at a thrift store for only £3. It's perfect for everything from Portobello shopping to carrying beach towels. With its vibrant green colour and pearl accents, what's not to love? I adore this lightweight, versatile basket!

Vibrant colours, leopard prints, and breathable shoes, anything goes. It’s not beach weather yet. But..

Why not start to build your Summer look now? Or while packing the Winter away, are there any clothes to donate? Boots that won’t go another season, or any mending or dry cleaning. It’s a great time to get your wardrobe edited.

Taking the time to enjoy Green Park

. A crossword puzzle, sunshine and the promise of what’s to come …see you in June.
