Chic for less.

If I’ve learnt anything over the past 50 years it’s that fashion & great style doesn’t always come at a steep price.

This recent image on my Instagram page produced more than 300 comments, primarily focused on the fabulous shoes. The colour, heel or my dare to wear had so many words I had to put out a blanket story to confirm they were £3 from Primark.

I originally detailed the purchase of the metallic assets in January buying for Summer. Buying shoes out of season is a great way to pick up a bargain—the total cost for five pairs £30.

The art of dressing well is less about how much something costs & more about how it all comes together. With finances more stretched than ever … it’s essential to get value per pound.

Cheaper staples.

Something as simple as a white shirt or pleated skirt can be luxurious if worn with the right accessories ..glasses, a go-get-them bag, or chic jewellery. Essential that attention is paid to nail varnish the whole look goes out the window if small details let you down.

There is no such thing as out with the old and in with the new. A chic wardrobe allows you to pull vintage goodies from years gone by to add oomph & personal glamour. The above shoes are from 2004 LkBennett & the bag 2003.

High street style the dresses above are now £10 each in the HM sale the shoes $5 in Primark. Any age woman can wear this look ..yes I hate the top of my arms …but with a smile & confidence, I look and feel perfect for my lunch dates. You don’t need to be rich to look rich !!!!

Two stripe sweaters were purchased from charity stores total price £5 for both. The left sweater purchased last week is an early Autumn buy ..it has long sleeves its versatility allows for cargo pants, and denim anything will work. The short sleeve crop top has become an instant favourite. Stripes especially thick colourful fruity options are timeless & ageless. Both outfits including shoes less than £20.

The £6 dress featured in the previous blog is reused with different accessories. Picking neutral colours & lightweight fabrics allows for easy layering. I have tucked this dress into trousers and worn it with a camisole look many times.

I’m a huge fan of vintage shopping as you all know whether online or visiting flea markets or thrift stores. People assume I spend a lot of money on my outfits, especially bags. So many of the messages I receive are about bags hopefully you’ve read the Websites bag section.

With the current cost of living tightening our fashion belts forward planning can be enjoyable & rewarding. Last week in Portobello market one stall had all cashmere half price or less. Boots with 70% discounts are still featured on the Zara sale website. Shop around and pull ideas from magazines.

Keep the wardrobe fresh, diverse & individual.
