Home style
Once the holiday hustle and bustle is over, I like to settle down. I love soaking in the more relaxed vibe that comes with the New Year. It’s a lovely way to kick back and enjoy the quieter moments!
Supporting small businesses, I'm shown above outside one of Kensington's independent shops. Their breathtaking handmade breads and delicious delicatessens caught my attention. The joy I once found in buying shoes has now shifted to flowers, plants, and food. Some people live on leftovers at this time. I have none left this year ….good planning
London's V&A is a perfect spot for enjoying a quiet coffee and scone. I can walk here from my apartment, and it feels like a slice of heaven, especially for those who appreciate fashion and jewellery. The experience is truly inspiring; it’s like stepping into a decadent world of elegance.
A short walk from Kensington Palace, which is often crowded with tourists, leads to a delightful souvenir shop. I love to grab a coffee and stroll through Kensington Gardens to Portobello Market and Notting Hill. Having lunch in the conservatory is perfect for warming up before taking a walk around the Serpentine.
Living on the edge of Notting Hill, I spend a lot of time in the neighbourhood. Unfortunately, over the past ten years, it has transformed into a popular tourist attraction for photography. This has led to the decline of independent cinemas and shops. Now, the area is filled with tacky souvenir stores, where tourists pose on doorsteps, lean against the colourful houses, or buy cheap Paddington merchandise.
Covent Garden stands unmatched; its charm is undeniable. Strolling through its historic streets is a must. St. Paul’s Church in the centre offers a perfect spot to relax and tackle the crossword. The vibrant entertainment, with jugglers, singers, musicians, and magicians, ensures there’s never a dull moment. On Mondays, vintage jewellery takes centre stage, and I intentionally head toward Seven Dials to relive the excitement of my teenage years.
Kings Road in Chelsea is sponsored this year by Ralph Lauren, who has taken over Sloane Square. It's a shopper’s dream, with Tiffany and Cartier located across from the wonderful Peter Jones, which has a unique and cosy vibe that I love. The restaurant on the fifth floor offers a breathtaking view.
I must confess, I adore anything by Ralph Lauren. The pop-up coffee shop has been a delightful experience filled with indulgence. As I stroll past the boutiques on Sloane Street, I come upon Harvey Nichols. It's a place fit for Eddie and Pats, where the opulence of wealth and stunning fashion are beautifully complemented by diamonds and glitter.
So 2026 approaches for me personally, it cannot be worse than 2025, a year to forget filled with loss, heartbreak and absolutely nothing positive to say about it…except I remained sane…just.
a very Happy and peaceful New Year to you all
