Why its ok to look rich again

Cocooned in luxurious faux fur, I’m whisked away to a time of enchanting glamour and elegance. A period when individuals donned their finest for no particular occasion, simply because it brought them joy and a sense of sophistication. I can’t help but feel utterly captivated.

Oh, the allure that a bold swipe of red lipstick, shimmering gold jewellery, and a fresh manicure can add to a Sunday lunch! When I don vintage pieces, I always make it a point to elevate them with luxurious accessories—like my chic Prada sunglasses and exquisite bracelets sourced from the enchanting streets of Venice. My wool dress, a treasured vintage find, becomes my autumn staple, though it spends nine months securely tucked away in plastic, awaiting its moment to shine.

Faux fur in any colour looks polished and evokes memories of icons like Bette Davis, Lauren Bacall, and Joan Crawford. Once a symbol of wealth, real fur, such as sable or mink, was desired by many women. Today, you can find a variety of real fur items at thrift stores or flea markets, but I personally prefer the softness of faux teddy bear fur.

But is it appropriate…Absolutely, it is appropriate. It’s a more affordable and welcoming alternative. I fully embrace warmth, even during menopause, and there's nothing wrong with enjoying a huge furry cuddle.

My favourite autumn outfit is the perfect blend of ladylike elegance: a slip dress paired with a vintage jacket. Navigating the crisp autumn air in a slip dress can be challenging, as the wind sweeps through the city, reminding me that a little discomfort is often the price I pay for fashion. Yet, there’s something exhilarating about embracing this style.

Suddenly, fashion has regained its allure—garments exude richness, are exquisitely tailored, and strike a perfect balance between sensuality and sophistication, much like Grace Kelly herself. Everything is vintage, save for the shoes, which add a contemporary twist. I typically shy away from bold lip colours, but the luxurious faux fur collar demands a touch of glamour that simply cannot be ignored.

We live in a time characterised by rich yet refined tastes, where many ladies opt for tattoos, transparent dresses, and lounge wear. While I respect their choices, I firmly believe in the importance of good taste and restraint. Perhaps it's old-fashioned, but dressing well and putting in the effort to present oneself is a clear reflection of self-respect.
