Springing in to Spring
The first glimpse of blossom my heart leaps Spring is arriving.
It’s time to bid farewell to heavy sweaters, layers of vests, and thick coats. I am embracing colourful tights paired with slingbacks as my new go-to combination. This is a bold new beginning in fashion, showcasing my wardrobe gems.
Shops are giving us a preview of the season’s hottest "must-haves." Although the new arrivals are far too cold to wear right now, they are undeniably tempting. Everything features transparent fabrics and lace trims. Once again, magazines are filled with images of young, skinny models, while my generation feels overlooked and invisible.
I have wardrobes stocked with my favourite essentials, but incorporating a select few trendy pieces is a crucial mood booster. This summer, I will travel, and I am eager to explore the vast Spanish markets and the Paris flea markets. They are just as enticing as Friday mornings in Portobello. I definitely plan to pick up a couple of new bags and shoes to elevate my collection.
After months of being stuck in dark winter colours, I am ready to fully embrace lighter, more uplifting hues. Wearing bare legs that morning was a major misstep; my legs were cold and looked blue. My desire to welcome spring cost me an Uber ride to avoid the chill, and I won’t make that mistake again.
I purchased the jeans below from H&M as an alternative to the white trousers I seem to have in every cut. Perfect for the transition: it was London Fashion Week, and I was delighted to see some sunshine.
I took a weekend by the sea to recharge, and I firmly believe it was the right choice. Seven years ago, I considered moving to Brighton, drawn by its slower pace compared to London. Being on the beach in my boots and jeans, I relished the freedom of not having to wear a coat.
The best part of packing away clothes is reopening vacuum bags and rediscovering forgotten gems. My vintage flower jeans were perfect for lunch in Kensington.
I'm excited to share that the first sign of Spring for me is these fabulous polka dot shoes! I can't wait to pair them with shorts or maxi dresses. New shoes or bags are always my first purchases because they can be worn right away. They attract lots of admiring glances and are fun and trendy!
