When people used to ask me what I did ..I would tell them I was a fashion blogger & website owner for women over 50. Two years ago this changed to I’m an Over 50 influencer.

May 2023 and delighted to be featured in the digital arts and fashion magazine Schwarzenberg

Starting out

I had no ambition or desire to be a fashion influencer. Every day I receive offers of work for jewellery, sunglasses and swimwear brands. The answer still is no.

I decided carefully & deliberately I would only wear brands I would wear without being offered the items for free. They must work with my wardrobe, no fur or animal testing. I became very choosey and very aware of time wasters.

During the lockdown, I started to approach, volunteer & get involved with any form of fashion media.

The above article was a street-style photo for a Uk magazine. The below image was my very first hard copy for Ageless Chic

I became an Ambassador for Platinum Magazine in October 2021 and have three times been chosen for articles. When you blog, write, video, or photograph it’s important to stay in touch with current moods & trends.

Hearst magazines I joined in January 2021 working weekly on product information, giving feedback and contributing to online forums and chat rooms. Joining the team including Bazaar, Elle & Woman & Home.

The Platinum Christmas edition I was photographed alongside Cody for an article on what makes the season perfect.

To be even considered for an article is a massive moment… then to find yourself on the cover of a national magazine !!!!. Take a break magazine approached me regarding an upcoming issue on Pro Age. Invited to pick up some New Season options to feature with my image, I was delighted with the article.

Vivaia shoes are an eco-friendly brand made from recycling I love the fact all shoes are made from plastic bottles.

Ask Questions

  1. What is the brand expectation

  2. Their need pictures, videos, reels

    3. Payment this could be items to keep or a percentage of sales or a payment per post.

    4. Contract conditions deadlines.

    5. Never pay for stock to be delivered. Make sure what is despatched to you is recorded.

The above shoot was for Love Leggings and also included 2 reels. The partnership works because their products easily fit into my everyday wardrobe.

Know your followers.

My audience is Women aged 35 and upwards. Swimwear, Sports, Vitamin products or healthy food drinks invites are often sent. If it’s a brand I’m comfortable with I will investigate. But I am not going to recommend a product let alone film a product because a brand has set products. Remember YOU are the brand.

It’s easy to accept products, especially skincare or hair products but your feed starts to look like a promotional tool. Your audience will be left confused holding up different brands. By doing this you devalue your own worth. Find a brand sign for a year exclusive for a year.

Contracts are sent via email to confirm all conditions. Paypal is a good payment option.

Approached by this wonderful brand I selected some items from their website that I knew would be so wearable and perfect. The blue jumpsuit I have not taken off. VERSATILITY always select items you can style. What’s easier than a beautiful white shirt that can be reloaded for Autumn? Don’t be tempted to ask for clothes you cannot work with. It looks bad on you and the brand. Photograph them in good light …always ensure it’s not fussy or worn with another brand. The focus is 100% on the product. In most cases, the images will transfer onto websites or catalogues so don’t add stars or words. I once sent two videos to a brand with slogans and type to be told it was going to Germany and Holland and I had to start again.
