Dungaree chic

Summer style should be effortless, comforting and carefree. No item quite hits the spot like this season’s dungarees. It’s the one-stop essential with endless options.

Quick History

In 1835 the bib and trousers first came together to form overalls made out of ‘Dungaree fabric’. The designer was Levi Strauss.

Eliminating belts and designed to carry tools every American labourer wore them and a trend was born.

The essential styling tip is try on different designs. Adjust the straps to frame the neck. I prefer high waisted with a relaxed fit leg but it’s personal taste.

Versatility & style.

Dungaree style is all in the mix. Once the strategic choices about colour, comfort, and utility have been made, the rest can be left to impulse.

Heidi Klum opts for a t-shirt or vest. The dungarees are the same but the additional necklace adds a pop of glamour.

Cropped.

Sarah Jessica Parker styles the trousers with a rolled-up look, teamed with trending ankle boots. The actress breaks up the outfit allowing the legs to appear longer.

Heels v flats.

It’s a question of personal taste the below fashionistas wear black dungarees with white shirts. Alexa wears her high waisted Barbour straight-cut leg with Converse perfect for the day. Olivia wears a cropped skinny with heels adding a pop of colour with the bag. Both looks work.

My choice.

Zara.

I purchased the above pair because the fit was perfect. I wanted a high waisted pair with no rips or holes. The length is perfect for all my flats shoes.

Asos.

Loose fitting and a petite cut. The bib section is designed high, with shorter straps that sit perfectly on my shoulders.Teamed with my chunky sandals from The Row its perfect for Summer.

Dungarees or overalls, this non-nonsense garment could be the easiest addition to your wardrobe. Simple to dress up or down and uncomplicated enough to wrap a blazer or roll neck over when cooler.

Once you find the right style for your age and figure you will be wondering what took you so long.
