September Chic

As the vibrant hues of summer gradually fade, fashion enthusiasts find themselves at a pivotal moment — a season of transition. It's that time of year when we look ahead, embracing fresh inspirations from the latest fashion shows and reimagining our wardrobes for the coming months.

Is there anything more delightful on a beautiful, warm August morning in London than indulging in the Winter 2025 collections? From boots to coats, the allure of new styles and the excitement of planning outfits are waiting to be explored. From the catwalks that set the trends to the high street that brings them to life, there’s a wealth of creativity waiting to be explored.

After months of donning crisp white summer outfits, soft pastels, and airy sandals, I find myself yearning to slip into cosy knee-high socks, splash through shimmering puddles, and delight in the satisfying crunch of autumn leaves beneath my feet.

Summer has left me feeling dehydrated. London experienced four heatwaves this season, with whispers that it could have been the hottest on record. It has been unbearable. As a menopausal woman, I find myself constantly drenched in sweat and struggling with insomnia, all while facing the reality of a body that is aging. Varicose veins and hair that is turning more silver than blonde are just a few of the changes I see. The mirror can be unforgiving.

September brings a renewed mindset, symbolising fresh beginnings and the excitement of new school uniforms. It’s a time when retailers unveil inspiring transitional lines, and magazines shine a spotlight on the innovation and creativity of the fashion industry.

Do you envision your wardrobe staying ahead of trends and identifying the season's "must-haves"? Remember, hot items can sell out quickly, and sizes or colours may be limited, especially for coats. Embrace the excitement of new collections, but consider the timing—would you really invest in thick roll-neck sweaters in August?

I've begun exploring the new arrivals in the store, embracing the changes in my body shape. Surprisingly, I found that I needed a size 6 for coats. I prefer the experience of shopping in person—it's an old-fashioned joy—and I purchased the coat because it was the only one available, making the best of the moment.

My cherished baskets, dusted with sand and infused with the scent of seaweed, are filled with memories of joyful summer days and the invigorating chill of seawater between my toes. As I store away my shorts, beach clothes, and open-toe sandals, I am reminded of how swiftly summer fades and how life unfolds in the same way. Do we truly measure the seasons by our wardrobes? A particular dress brings back a wonderful occasion that inspires reflection on the beauty of change.

What's on your shopping list for Fall 2025? Reflect on the memories your purchases will bring by the end of the season.
