I started my account on Instagram in 2017 originally as a hobby, I had always been interested in fashion. After turning 50 I had become more aware of the challenge of staying stylish & the frustration of buying fashion.

Learning anything technical in later years is a challenge.

Social media may look effortless, beautiful & easy… it is not. Owning an account with followers, collaborates, deadlines, brand expectations etc. It is a full time job.

Any social media site that a person launches is personal. You become the product, the image, the owner. Your face is known around the world by individuals you do not know.

What do you do?

How many times have I heard this ? Or you must get sent loads of clothes !!

On social media, you see images from bloggers that have taken days, weeks or hours to plan. Make-up (especially nails) or jewellery that’s borrowed. on average I take 50-100 per day for 3,000 per week. Lighting is essential, clear photos with a background that doesn’t distract.

Like many, I work hard to keep my content fresh, different and interesting. I mix new season high street with Vintage finds normally holding one of my 24 Birkins. Essential details like price availability must be noted for back messages. Trending items must be sourced, arrival dates and new season deliveries.

The above image reached 15,000 views. The bag is 18 years old ..sunglassed are vintage Givenchy. The trend was a new season Zara blouse it’s pictured central ..check out the basic empty background.

The above-limited edition shirts sold out online ..know your market.

Hashtag & Comments

Take a minute to write a witty catchline or ask a question. Some bloggers write everyday stories, others just use hashtags. I try to write about the outfit, my new blog or where and why the photo was taken.

YOUR BRAND

YOUR BRAND

Taken in Chelsea this image sticks in my mind because it went live the day it was taken. I only post 5 days a week to maintain the quality I try and shoot 2/3 days in advance. Sometimes I do two shoots in one day because I may need to film a video or product layout.

Instagram stories

Instagram stories are shown along the top of your feed. A few seconds allow you to display images, videos, select music, allowing you stay in touch with your followers. They last for 24 hours. I also use this feature to highlight items on a post with product details.

Recently i was invited to spend the day visiting new collections and chat to brands about Fall collection. To give my followers an incite i used the stories updating and asking for feedback.

Managing your account.

Managing your account is time consuming…its 24 hours. Australian and American traffic are my morning focus. Items, availability what size do I wear etc. Messages and additional followers must be checked, these are the biggest headache.

1 Bitcoin and investors.

2. Fake accounts

3. Comment left with other peoples accounts to visit ..always double check what people write.

4. Pests …mainly men looking for a reaction.

5. Money requests.

I always respond to every comment and I tend to like 99% of my followers. Its essential to maintain a media freindship it can be a lonesome day blogging or taking photos and its good to bounce off one & other.
