Christmas chic

The party season arrives with a shift to all things sparkly & glitzy with a palette of metallics guaranteed to outshine even the most beautiful trees.

Christmas chic is achievable, easy and cost-effective if you take the time to plan ahead. Forget trends don’t be tempted by shop windows and fancy magazine layouts. know how you want to look, and what’s affordable & achievable.

Here’s what works for me

  1. The shoes are in silver glitter colour and texture that adds interest to my feet. A heel that’s the height for elegance & dance.

  2. A long satin neutral skirt the detail at the waist lengthens my legs

  3. Costume jewellery in gold and an appropriate bag with gold detail to match.

Bags of style

I have learnt to carry a bag that spends the evening with me. The above style features a chunky chain for my shoulder to leave my hands free or the alternative to hold as a clutch. Size is important both the bags above can be carried in my hand.

The identical skirt and shoes the faux fur is replaced by a sequin blazer and sequine bag.

With luxe fabrics and plenty of sparkle, all wrapped up with a retro-glam edge. Its time to turn heads.

faux fur chic

The finishing touches and if you can’t wear fun fur at Christmas ..well move over Scrooge. The easier & cheapest buys from thrift stores. I own 4 in different colours all under ten pounds. The jewellery looks rich against a plush finish, diamonds sparkle the whole look is elevated.

A silver glitter sleeveless top perfectly pairs the charcoal grey skirt equally as beautifully and elegantly mixed with the long satin skirt. The same Hm bag works again.

Gold, Silver, and sequins December brings a spectacular riot of colours, textures and glitter. Keep your heels strappy and go tonal with your clutch.

Add some red.

Inspired by my birthday visit to Dior I loved the beautiful crimson red against the Christmas decor.

Christmas brunch with my Dior-inspired dress and vintage jacket. With a room filled with black dresses, I felt so chic and comfortable.

Oh so chic and easy. A silk dress with a warm sweater and shoes that give a Jessica Rabbit like wiggle.

Daytime glamour.

Do not head out to the shops buying something to wear twice and then 51 weeks later it doesn’t fit or is so untrendy you throw it out. Invest in some show-stopping pieces that will truly elevate your ensemble.

Oh, Mama this skirt not only delivers on the glamour it adds tassels. Purchased on eBay about 7 years ago. Easy-styled sweater new season boots and a 30-year-old bag. Buy once and buy right you never look back. This skirt can easily be transformed into any celebration mode.

If you follow me on Instagram you will recognise the gold leather skirt. Worn with flip flops, boots or heels it’s seen all year round. Purchased from Zara about 10 years ago it always looks rich & stylish. Worn with a thrift coat from New York it’s a wardrobe staple.

Don’t buy into trends that will date. UNLESS you buy for an investment a lot of windows are tempting but not always wearable

Luxe for less.

Christmas shoes should be purchased in end-of-line sales. Speaking from over 20 years of selling shoes I’m a bit of an expert. Running from party to drinks, especially using the London Underground. Use this tip.

1 Purchase a pair of black comfortable shoes that fit in your bag.

2. Go on eBay or Amazon and purchase shoe clips for a couple of pounds.

3. Go wild with faux fur, diamonte, pearls even feathers.

With a touch of sparkle, a festive and fashionable manicure is an artful and entertaining way to accessorise.

Polish up your look for the party season without busting your budget. A quick and easy instant update.

Ted Baker have the best silver shoes on the high street and pair up with bags from John Lewis.
