2022 Chic Moments

Approaching the last days of 2022 a chance to reflect on what has been a mixed, challenging & defining year. The highlights & losses of the past 12 months. A year of colourful fashion, and stylish looks and even at my age, I can be a cover girl…

Joy of Recognition

I have always enjoyed the rewards of building a vintage wardrobe. It has allowed Portobello and frith find to be mixed with the High Street or desirable designer items. When your style is selected as desirable & motivational it's a humbling experience.

Yes, it’s hard to believe that pictures you take of your daily lifestyle can be seen around the World. I know this blog reaches so many Spanish ladies and your support is unmeasurable

The joy of personal recognition for something we love or enjoy doing is always welcome. This year has been full of surprises. I was truly blown away to receive notification of an up-and-coming feature in Elle magazine (Spanish edition). The excitement of seeing the selected images…. After sheepishly asking for a translation left such a high.

Can you imagine the excitement when approached about appearing in a magazine article? Especially on Pro-Age and women over 50 and find yourself on the cover. I kept it a secret and had no idea about the publication date or what the finished layout would look like …as you can imagine I brought quite a few copies.

Success with brands has also added so much positivity to my work lifestyle. I admit I am choosey and decline more than I accept …it has proved hard work, challenging and time-consuming. The end results have been worthwhile.

It can be challenging to appreciate the effort and planning it takes to put together outfits, and locations within time slots especially when boxes arrive late. One originally for Black Friday was changed so quickly, brought forward a week early I literally shot 4 videos and PR shots in two days.

Colourful 22

I never dreamed in January that my wardrobe would resemble a rainbow of multi-coloured vibrant pops of delights. Toes wrapped in pink suede, tangy orange tassels, lashings of green satin ….oh my. Black …how boring !!!. Uplifting, exciting and eye-catching I can’t wait to see the 2023 palettes.

Royal loss

Although not unexpected, the loss in September of Her Majesty was heartbreaking and unmeasurable. A constant stable presence is gone, simply unreplaceable. Like thousands around the world, I queued all night to say goodbye & thank you. The saddest moments of 2022.

Ukrainian heartbreaks.

Controversial to pen a blog on War, especially on International Women’s Day. My readers around the World left comments on Instagram. A truly mixed response but life and world events affect us all. Women everywhere have a voice but free speech is not available to all, especially in Afghanistan. The freedom to choose what to wear ???. Not for all women sadly. What will change in 2023?

We are surrounded by uncertainty in our future… for us, our children and what as individuals we leave behind. Pressure is all around us from financial stress to mental health. It’s how we deal with it individually in our own way ..now in my late 50s I know it’s not easy and our shoulders can only carry so much.

A sudden and unexpected snowfall in London this month. Running outside like a child to play in the snow and playing joyfully with my dog. A moment captured so brilliantly above.

Try and find the beauty and love of life, it’s all around us. Sometimes we worry so much about the future we don’t make time to enjoy now ….or the simple pleasures of remembering what it was like to build a snowman.

Happy New Year.
